Rupert, meet Elizabeth
Elizabeth Mason met mogul newsman Rupert Murdoch and walked away $30,000 richer.
The former Sydney Moriah College is the 2012 Qantas Airlines Fellow and told J-Wire the money will be used to further her studies at the University of California in Berkley.
Elizabeth Mason won the fellowship to work for an extended time at the university in her field of clinical psychology and received her awards recently at a dinner in New York.. She will be carrying out post-doctoral research working on a novel treatment program for adolescents with sleep disorders.
She has attained a PhD and a Masters degree in Clinical Psychology at the University of New South Wales.
Her mother Professor Rebecca Mason, head of the department of Physiology at the University of Sydney told J-Wire: “She is working on the link between anxiety, depression and sleep and will join a group of professionals who will study in America in order to bring new techniques back to Australia.”
Elizabeth Mason, worked the last two years in Sydney’s St Vincent’s Hospital in its Centre Research Unit for anxiety and depression.
Elizabeth told J-Wire: “The money will be put to very good use…covering my living costs here in California.”
