2015 Australian of the Year Rosie Batty will be the guest speaker at this year’s Jewish Gala Dinner in Sydney.

In February 2014, her 14-yr-old son Luke was killed by his father at cricket practice in the outer Melbourne suburb of Tyabb.

Following her son’s murder Rosie Batty, who emigrate to Australia from the U.K. in 1988, became an advocate for female domestic violence victims, establishing the Luke Batty Foundation to assist the victims.

The Jewish House Gala Dinner will be held at Sydney’s Westin Hotel on December 1.
