Rosh Hashanah message from Alex Hawke
I send my best wishes to the Jewish-Australian community as you join the Jewish community around the world in celebrating Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, and prepare for Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement.
As you mark the start of Rosh Hashanah, may the coming High Holy Days be ones of reflection on the past year and a celebration of the opportunities and personal growth that a new year brings.
As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to impact our lives and prevents many of you from gathering with the friends, family and community who are so central to these celebrations; I hope that you are still able to join together in spirit to begin the New Year with faith and optimism for the future.
Jewish-Australians are an integral part of Australian society, and I thank you for your continued contributions to the enrichment and diversity of Australian life. I encourage you to embrace the current challenges and continue to provide care and support to one another in the safest way possible.
I wish you all a happy new year and a meaningful Yom Kippur. May you find joy, hope, strength, and unity in the year that lies ahead.
Shanah Tovah U’metukah!
G’mar Chatimah Tovah!
