He told J-Wire: “As Rosh Hashanah approaches, it is with great pleasure that I extend my best wishes for a joyous, happy year to the Jewish community in Australia and across the world.

The marking of a year past and the beginning of another is a time for families and friends to come together to share stories, reflect on experiences of the past, and their hopes for the future.  This is a common experience for many Australians irrespective of their faith.

At this important time in the Jewish calendar, the wider community joins the Jewish community in its celebrations.

May the new year bring you personal happiness and meet the hopes of all of us for an enduring and just solution to the Israeli–Palestinian conflict.

Shanah Tovah ( A Good Year).”
