“I’m not a victim, I am a survivor,” says acclaimed author and motivational speaker Eddy Boas.

Eddie Boas

Eddy was just three and a half months old when Germany invaded Holland on 10 May 1940. His father was in the Dutch army away fighting the Germans. As Eddy says, “With both my parents Jewish, my future looked bleak and the odds of my surviving were not great”, but survive he did, and his story is told in his acclaimed book, “I’M NOT A VICTIM, I AM A SURVIVOR.”

Eddy’s story is remarkable – a testimony, remembrances of his mother and brother, and his research into the history, politics and social environment surrounding his early life in Europe as World War 2 erupted. According to the Red Cross and Yad Vashem records, Eddy’s family was remarkable – this family of four (two adults and two sons) entered the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp together and, uniquely, emerged an intact family unit.

The Honours Club is privileged to have Eddy share his story of “Resilience in the Face of Adversity” and explain how his positive mindset led to his survival and success enabling his to live a happy life.

Eddy’s presentation is inspirational and holds lessons from which we can all learn.
