Report: “Nazis” walk through Victorian supermarket.
The Sunday Age has reported that a group of people dressed as Nazis walked through a Coles supermarket in Woodend in Victoria last month.
A witness told Te Sunda Age two men and two women in their 20s walked through the supermarket. He said that he believed the four were going to a party and the people did not necessarily identify as right-wing extremists or white supremacists.
The witness told The Sunday Age: “Once in the supermarket, I said to them that they were being highly disrespectful and had no idea what their uniforms meant,” he said. “The blokes told me that it was ‘only a joke’ and to f— off. I persisted, saying that there could be people here who went through World War II and the Holocaust. They laughed it off and told me to f— off again.”
Peter Wertheim, the co-CEO of The Executive Council of Australian Jewry told J-Wire: “It’s truly bizarre that some people are so ignorant of history, or so oblivious to the gruesome butchery of the Nazi genocide, that they apparently think that walking around in SS uniforms with swastika armbands is just a bit of harmless fun. Perhaps a visit to the Auschwitz extermination camp or the crematorium at Theresienstadt would jolt them back into reality.”
Of course, wearing a nazi symbol is hurtful and insulting to every decent person.
Many innocent people died under the nazi symbols.
My family suffered under such symbols.
Now, let’s also remember a facet that is not much discussed, studied or acted on and that is the red Communist flag under which about 3 times as many innocent victims lost their lives.
All I am expressing, without diminishing the disgust caused by the nazi symbols, is a call to show and maintain the same rightful outrage at the sight of the Communist emblems.
