Rami Bar-Niv in New Zealand
Internationally acclaimed Israeli concert pianist, Rami Bar-Niv, is to perform in concert at Rotorua’s Civic Theatre on 19 August.
Adding opera to the concert mix will be baritone Jarvis Dams while Li Canwei, an Auckland University music graduate will be showcasing his talents on piano.
The concert is being organised by former Rotorua mayor and arts patron, Grahame Hall, as a fundraising event for the Rotorua Civic Arts Trust.
Mr Hall said he was delighted that Mr Bar-Niv had agreed to find time from his hectic international schedule to perform in Rotorua, and to support the Civic Arts Trust’s promotion of quality arts projects in the district.
He said he was also grateful to the Israel Embassy in Wellington for contributing financial support.
“Rami will be joining us directly from China where he’s performing two concerts. He’s a world class, highly regarded and creative pianist known across the globe. So Rotorua people are in for a real treat,” said Mr Hall.
Mr Bar-Niv studied music in Israel and New York, winning numerous music scholarships and competitions before embarking on a hugely successful concert career.
