Chairman of the Anti-Defamation Commission Dr Dvir Abramovich, has expressed concern over the motives behind the recent pro-Palestinian rally held in Sydney.

Dr Abramovich issued the following statement:

“I am concerned that pro-Palestinian rallies, such as the one that took place in Sydney are fast becoming forums for antisemitic expression and anti-Israel incitement. While there is a place for legitimate criticism of Israel, insidiously equating Israel’s actions to Nazi Germany’s systematic program to exterminate the Jews of Europe during the Holocaust and the use of banners with the Star

of David intertwined with a Swastika go beyond acceptable criticism and cross into unadulterated antisemitism. I am also troubled that speakers irresponsibly and offensively denied Israel’s right to exist. Using political protests to fan the flames of anti-Israel and antisemitic sentiments is a dangerous trend which must be met with condemnation by our communal and political leaders.
