Rabbis voice their support
In the wake of the passing of United Nations Security Council resolution 2334, the Rabbinic Council of Australia and New Zealand (RCANZ) has applauded the efforts made by the religious and lay leadership of New Zealand’s Jewish community to reach out to their Prime Minister Bill English, expressing their condemnation of the resolution, particularly in light of the New Zealand Government’s involvement in it.
The RCANZ issued a statement saying it fully supports the position of its Rabbinic colleagues in New Zealand” that the said resolution is ‘one-sided and continues the UN’s woeful record of rewriting history and delegitimizing the Jewish State’”.
They added: “RCANZ is appalled by assertions made today by US Secretary of State John Kerry that Israel is to blame for a lack of peace and fully endorses Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s rejection of this claim.
RCANZ affirms the holy teachings of our Torah clearly identifying Israel as the eternal homeland of the Jewish people, with Jerusalem as its capital. We hope and pray that Israel shall be at peace and that peace shall reign throughout the world. “
