Rabbi Moshe Kahn appointed RCV President
The Rabbinical Council of Victoria (RCV) has announced a generational leadership change with the appointment of Rabbi Moshe Kahn as its President.
Rabbi Kahn, a longstanding and influential member of the RCV committee, as well as the Director of Chabad Youth for many years and Rabbi of Daminyan Shule, assumes the presidency with a wealth of experience.
Rabbi Philip Heilbrunn, former senior rabbi at St Kilda Hebrew Congregation, who has led the RCV as President for the past six years, expressed his enthusiasm for the transition at their recent Annual General Meeting.
Rabbi Helibrunn said, “I am so pleased to pass on the mantle to a rabbi with such an energetic and innovative vision supported by a dedicated and experienced committee”.
Rabbi Kahn has been an instrumental force in the RCV committee for several years, and his appointment is a natural progression for the organisation. Rabbi Heilbrunn praised Rabbi Kahn’s appointment and emphasised the importance of dynamic and pioneering leadership.
He said, “Rabbi Kahn’s vision aligns with the RCV’s commitment to fostering a vibrant and connected rabbinate to serve the Melbourne Jewish Community.”
The RCV Committee, together with the Executive Director Rachael Mihalovich, have played a pivotal role in shaping the organisation’s strategic plan. The RCV advises that the plan prioritises unity and collaboration among rabbis and their congregations, aiming to enhance community participation and strengthen the bonds among members of the Jewish community.
The RCV also focuses on providing continuous high-level general skills, pastoral care and Jewish Law Professional Development opportunities in addition to mentorship programs for both the Rabbis and Rebbetzins.
Rabbi Kahn expressed his commitment to continue and expand upon the RCV’s community engagement projects
He told J-Wire: “I am honoured to serve as President of the Rabbinical Council of Victoria and look forward to working closely with our dedicated members to strengthen our community bonds further and enhance the spiritual well-being of our communities.”
Asked about his priorities as President, Rabbi Kahn said, “The RCV’s strategic plan is dedicated to tackling vital issues, such as elevating the morale and facilitating engagement of our cherished community. We are committed to fostering inclusivity, collaboration, and impactful initiatives that align with the organisation’s goals. Communication with our members will be a top priority, underscoring our steadfast commitment to the core values of the organisation.”
The RCV advised that their deepest prayers are with all of the Melbourne Jewish Community and especially our brothers and sisters in our holy land, Israel. “With prayers for the safety of all of our brave Chayalim in Israel.”
