Rabbi Lawrence to be questioned on ABC about Genesis
Sydney’s The Great Synagogue’s Rabbi Jeremy Lawrence will feature on ABC Radio National’sThe Spirit of Things this Sunday in conversation with Archbishop Peter Jensen, who asks the rabbi questions about how Jews understand Genesis.
The account of God’s creation in the opening chapters of the Bible are primary to Jewish and Christian beliefs, but does it make sense to a scientifically advanced age and an increasingly unbelieving world?
Archbishop Peter Jensen of Sydney’s Anglican Cathedral interviews Rabbi Jeremy Lawrence of The Great Synagogue on the Jewish understanding of Genesis 1-11 and finds both common ground and wisdom for a secular age.
In this delightful conversation, Rabbi Lawrence brings his love of science, his wealth of rabbinical stories, and his anarchic sense of humour to promote a belief in the shared redemption of the world based on humanity created in God’s image.
The conversation was recorded for the New South Wales Council of Christians and Jews and can be previewed here.
It will be broadcast on Sunday 24 March at 6:05pm and on the following Tuesday, 26 March at 1:05pm.
