Jewish chaplain for NSW Rabbi Mendel Kastel has spent three days on specialised training at the NSW Police Academy in Goulburn.

Rabbi Kastel, who in the CEO of Jewish House told J-Wire: “I have been updated with new procedures some of which have been put in place following the appointment of a new commissioner.

During the three days of training we were exposed to simulated situations during which our aspects of  our training was needed.

Rabbi Mendel Kastel was also presented with a pin marking 15 years service as a police chaplain.

He told J-Wire: “The incident which stands out in my memory was when a young Jewish girl went missing in Sydney. Like all others involved in the search I was relieved when she was found. I used my specialised training in dealing with the incident.”
