In the wake of the devastating floods in Queensland,  Victoria’s Jewish Care urges Victorian Jewish community to unite behind a national effort to support affected families.

While many organisations are providing immediate financial aid, Jewish Care is directing effort towards longer term recovery of the Queensland community.

Jewish Care is compiling a register of new and quality used goods that can be donated to flood affected families. Distribution of items will be arranged once families assess and identify their needs.

CEO, Bill Appleby said Jewish Care would work closely with Queensland Jewish community organisations to ensure that donated goods match the needs of families as they rebuild their lives.

Jewish Care will support efforts of the Queensland Jewish Board of Deputies (QJBD), Queensland Jewish Community Services and the Jewish Help in Need Society.

“As a community organisation, we acknowledge that we are all responsible for one another. It is our duty to assist the Queensland Jewish community in their time of need,” he said.

Those wishing to donate new and quality used goods, including household products, Judaica, furniture and electrical items are encouraged to contact Jewish Care, by email to [email protected]
