Psychiatrist joins JewishCare

Sydney’s JewishCare now offers the services of a psychiatrist working out of its Saber Street, Woollahra offices.

This is the first time since its inception that the care organisation has been able to offer this facility to the community.

Twice a week, Dr Ivan Lakicevic ,MBBS and Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP)  offers a full range of psychiatric services, including assessment and management  to JewishCare clients. He also consults to The Black Dog Institute

Dr Lakicevic consults on a bulk billing basis following an appropriate referral by a general practitioner and is also available to undertake home visits accompanied by a JewishCare Caseworker.

Claire Vernon CEO of JewishCare said “this initiative significantly enhances what we are able to offer those with mental health issues. It represents a great resource for the community and is yet another example JewishCare’s commitment to taking a leading role in the management of mental health”.

JewishCare’s Mental Health and Wellbeing team has expanded substantially and now has multidiscipline team of 7 staff members including an Occupational Therapist, a registered nurse, a psychologist and social workers and supports over 200 people with mental health and wellbeing issues.
