Principal spirited away
A Melbourne student is suing the Adass Israel Girls School for negligence following the flight of the school’s former principal who is facing child sex abuse charges.
The Supreme Court was dealing with pre-trial arguments yesterday and according to media called Mair Ernst to appear at yesterday’s arguments. Ernst was a school council member in 2008 when Malka Leifer fled to Israel shortly after she was sacked by the school following allegations of inappropriate behaviour according to “The Age” newspaper.
Mr Ernst and his wife Hadassa failed to appear.
The court was told that Mr Ernst had arrange the ticket for Malka Leifer’s travel to Israel.
She remains, according to media, under house arrest in Jerusalem and is facing extradition to Melbourne to face the charges.
The court heard that evidence has been subpoenaed from a travel agency detailing the arrangements made for Mrs Leifer’s flight.
Malka Leifer is an Israeli citizen.
The case against the school begins tomorrow.
