Podcast: L’Chaim to Life: Michael Gawenda – Journalists are thrashing their own brand
Morry Frenkel speaks with Michael Gawenda, three-time Walkley award recipient, former editor and editor-in-chief of The Age and inaugural Director of the Centre for Advanced Journalism, at the University of Melbourne, about the current state in Australia of journalism and the way it is practiced by journalists, particularly with reference to the Israel-Gaza war.
Among other topics, Michael talks about some journalists being reporters, the scourge of the “social media sewer” being the primary news source for a growing number of people and the imputation that the so called “Israel lobby” controls the Australian media. Michael’s latest book, My Life as a Jew, which is an exploration of his Jewish identity, is available at leading booksellers.
