Currently, the museum hosts 55,000 visitors each year.

Greg Shand announced the Master Planning project at an event celebrating the museum’s 30th anniversary attended by donors, members and volunteers in attendance that the organisation is embarking on a Master Planning project.

The Master Plan, which will take up to 5 years to complete, will aim to future-proof the Museum by:

  • Responding to a changing world with new programs that actively challenge racism, intolerance and antisemitism;
  • Welcoming new audiences including families for the first time;
  • Transforming the existing historic buildings to make room for a larger set of galleries;
  • Working towards financial self-sustainability.

Together with Holocaust survivors and their descendants, the wider community, SJM staff and highly qualified professionals, the SJM will begin the process in early 2023.
