Paypal has blocked payments to New Zealand’s Shechita Donation campaign as it is not a registered charity within the United States.

On November 20, the New Zealand Jewish community will see the launch of a court battle to preserve their rights of Shecita which has been effectively banned by a clause in the country’s animal welfare code.

The community has been appealing to Jewry worldwide to help them finance the cost of the legal battle they are facing. Having had their web site blocked by Paypal, the community has launched an alternative payment site for international credit card users. It can be reached here.

On a lighter note, the Auckland community will hold its Chanukah party at Greys Ave from 4 p.m. on December 5.
