Passover message from Anthony Albanese
Australia’s prime minister sends his personal Pesach message to readers.

Anthony Albanese
Jewish communities in Australia and around the world have celebrated the start of Passover.
The symbols of the Seder plate are a reminder of the sacrifice, redemption and renewal at the heart of this cherished holiday.
The Passover story is an ancient one, passed on anew to each generation. It invites Jewish people to reflect on their history and rededicate themselves to the timeless values of freedom, courage, and faith. Through prayers and blessings, you honour the resilience and determination that has sustained Jewish people for millennia.
Australia has been a home and a sanctuary for Jewish people for generations.
I know the Jewish community feels deeply distressed by recent antisemitic attacks. I want to reassure you we remain steadfast in our determination to combat the scourge of antisemitism, and ensure Australia is a place of belonging, safety and respect.
The Jewish community is a cherished part of our modern multicultural society, and you make Australia a better place for us all.
As you spend time with your family and your loved ones, I hope this Passover brings a sense of community and togetherness, a feeling of gratitude and joy, and renewed hope for the future.
Chag Pesach Sameach!
Hmmm.
Mr Albanese, the symbol of the sacrifice on the Seder Plate that you mention is in remberance of acts performed in the Temple in Jerusalem, the capital city of the first and second Jewish Commonwealths, the indivisable capital of the State of Israel and the eternal centre of the Jewish nation. Your Government has rejected recognition of Jewish sovereingty of this site and called for Israel not to defend itself against from those in every generation who try to destroy us. I therefore find your message hollow and hypocritical.
