Liberal Scott Farlow moved a motion in the NSW parliament supported by all parties praising The New South Wales Jewish Board of Deputies and acknowledging recently retired president Lesli Berger.

The motion also congratulated David Ossip on becoming the new president.

Scott Farlow said: “I recognise the New South Wales Jewish Board of Deputies and the role it plays in our State with its work to combat all forms of antisemitism and discrimination within our communities.

Mentioning Lesli Berger, Senator Farlow added: “During his time as president of the board I was honoured to work with him to support the Government’s adoption of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance’s definition of antisemitism and the banning of the display of Nazi symbols. One of the great achievements in recent years is the board’s ever stronger role with other community groups. We have seen this through the formation of the Keep NSW Safe coalition and its recent work with the Hindu Council of Australia to address the display of Nazi symbols, which Daniel Mookhey might like to reflect on. Lesli and the board made an astute choice in the appointment of Darren Bark as its CEO, building on the strong foundation left by former CEO Vic Alhadeff.”

Acknowledging and supporting the motion were Walt Secord [Labor], Natalie Ward [Liberal], Sarah Mitchell [Labor], Reverend Fred Nile [Christian Democratic Party], Penny Sharpe [Labor, Chris Rath [Liberal], Mark Banasiak [Shooters, Fishers and Farmers Party], Anthony D’Adam [Labor], Ben Franklin [Liberal], Daniel Mookhey [Labor], Damien Tudehope [Liberal], and Mark Buttigieg [Labor].
