Palestinian Authority security forces have arrested three Islamic Jihad operatives in Judea and Samaria this week, together with a prototype rocket they had constructed, according to Israel’s Channel 12.

The rocket had been built with Iranian guidance, according to sources quoted in the report.

Israel has suffered for years from rocket fire from the Gaza Strip, and if such a threat were to emerge from the Palestinian territories as well, the country’s heartland would potentially be threatened.

According to the report, the instructions for building the rocket came from Lebanon, though it was not clear if the orders were from Islamic Jihad or the Shi’ite Lebanese terrorist group Hezbollah, both of which are Iranian proxies.

Israel has accused Islamic Jihad of responsibility for violence emanating from Gaza recently, charging it with trying to ignite a regional war.
