Our Big Kitchen cooks for Queensland – and COSA asks for your help
Sydney’s Our Big Kitchen’s facilities available to anyone who wants to bake for Queensland flood victims.
The commercial kitchen in the lower level of the Yeshiva building in Flood St, Bondi, sports world class equipment used last week by Sydney chef Tony Bilson and Portuguese-born French super chef Serge Vieiri whose restaurant in France has been awarded a Guide Michelin red star.
Rabbi Dovid Slavin who oeprates Our Big Kitchen told J-Wire: “We want anybody willing to help to come and join us to cook and bake for Queensland flood victims. No experience is necessary and we welcome all ages. The Kitchen is open daily from 10a.m. until mid-day, from 2p.m. to 4p.m and from 6pm to 8pm. On Friday and this coming Sunday , there will be morning sessions only.
In the meantime The Council of Orthodox Synagogues of Australia (COSA) together with the constituent State bodies is urging all member congregations to assist the flood victims of the Jewish community of Queensland by donating to the appeal set up by the Queensland Jewish Community Services Inc., in addition to supporting the Premier’s general appeal for all flood victims.
As well as encouraging all members of orthodox synagogues to personally contribute, COSA will ask its constituent shules to donate next week’s aliyot, as a gesture of support to the Queensland community.
