Only if it becomes necessary
Over 1000 members of the Melbourne Jewish community attended this year’s ADC-Gandel Oration given by John Bolton, a former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations.
Steve Yarrow reports that the audience in the Astor theatre in Prahran waited for words of hope,or information on how Israel would cope with the rise of terrorism by its surrounding neighbours.
Bolton however intimated that the current American leader and his party, are virtually lame, suggesting that it was through their struggling economy or lack of interest in overseas support for their allies abroad.
It would seem as though Israel would have to act alone, doing whatever it deems necessary to secure its borders, and risk whatever criticism comes her way.
The former ambassador said that America will only step in if it becomes absolutely necessary. He intimated that the Arab world perceived the current US administration as being weak referring to the actions taken after four Americans were killed in Benghazi in September 2012.
Bolton was thanked by Dvir Abramovich, chairman of the B’nai B’rith Anti-Defamation Committee.
