Senator Malcolm Roberts has called on the Australian government to back Israel, a close ally, and take serious steps to stop the world-wide targeting of the Jewish state. The Senator expressed great concern over New Zealand recently co-sponsoring a UN motion which targeted Israel’s settlements in areas including East Jerusalem, which have contained Jewish settlements since biblical times.

“If Australia had applied pressure to New Zealand in a serious manner, the new English government would have thought twice before stabbing our ally in the front,” he said.

Pauline Hanson’s One Nation Party was appalled to see Australia’s Kiwi cousins co-sponsor the UN resolution on the eve of the 100-year anniversary of the Battle of Beersheba, a watershed moment that solidified our two great nations’ love of liberty.

“2017 marks the centenary of the ANZAC’s brave actions to free the Palestinian territory (now Israel) from Ottoman oppression of Christians, Jews and other groups,”

“It would never have been possible for those brave ANZACs, charging as part of the Light Horse Brigade, to have ever thought that events 100 years later would go full circle and future generations would betray the very people they were about to liberate,” he said.

Senator Roberts also condemned remarks by lame-duck US State Secretary John Kerry, who made the treacherous claim that Israel could be either democratic or a Jewish state, but not both.

“Israel is the Jewish state, and it’s the only Middle Eastern democracy where Christians, Muslims atheists and Jews can all be elected to the same parliament. Israel is Jewish and democratic, unlike most Islamic countries,” he said.

Senator Roberts said Australia should review immigration relaxations for New Zealanders entering Australia while the New Zealand government continues its hostile attitude towards Israel.

“At the very least we should look at further cutting benefits for New Zealanders living in Australia,”

“Perhaps a tougher immigration policy aimed towards New Zealand would stop Kiwis from establishing settlements in Australia,” Senator Roberts said.

One Nation has said Australia should never again support New Zealand gaining a position in the United Nations such as a security council seat, adding; “This is why New Zealanders can’t have nice things”.

Senator Roberts said One Nation policy was to support the moving of Australia’s embassy in Israel to Jerusalem, and, “We should do this with or without America’s lead”.

Any organisation that suddenly finds Senator Roberts among their supporters should be deeply concerned about their public image!
    Regards.

  2. Adrian Jackson says:

Sen Roberts is not a member of the government or opposition and the policy of both major parties is for our embassy to remain in Tel Aviv.

Incidentally before WW1 the Ottoman Empire government the region efficiently and should never have been replaced. They built many modern infrastructure like a railway network in about 1912 through West Asia and as far as Baghdad I think.
