On the other hand
At long last, the heavens have opened and the first storm of the winter resulted in precipitation causing floods.
The good news is that the Kinneret’s water level increased and hopefully this augurs well for the remainder of the rainy season.
While a political drought seems inevitable with still no coalition formed we can at least look forward to progress in other fields.
A LEADER IN FIRST RESPONDER EMERGENCIES
United Hatzalah is recognized not only in Israel but also other countries as a world leader in emergency situation responses. Its fleet of ambucycles is renowned for getting to the scene before other conventional ambulances and starting immediate life-saving treatment. Every second counts in these circumstances.
Watch this video to get an idea of what this amazing organization achieved in 2019 and how Israel is yet again exporting its expertise to the rest of the world.
MDA INNOVATES
Magen David Adom (MDA), Israel’s veteran national emergency service has also been in the headlines.
The first youth volunteer course of its kind was recently completed at Yavniel MDA station.
Fifteen teenagers aged 15-16 from Yavniel, all members of the haredi sector, devoted their time and participated in a Magen David Adom course, during which they were trained to provide first aid and learned about MDA.
The 15 youth volunteers successfully completed the course, and have joined MDA’s teams in the Yarden Region where they do shifts as Emergency Medical Responders.
The course is a landmark in the process of incorporating the youth of the haredi sector in Israel’s National Emergency Medical and Blood Services Organization. MDA is working in conjunction with the yeshiva that has provided their full support to their students volunteering.
MDA Director-General Eli Bin stated: “Magen David Adom, as Israel’s National Emergency Medical and Blood Services Organization, opens its doors to every citizen in the State of Israel who wants to contribute and work for saving human lives. We work hard to enable every member of the community, sector or religion, to join Magen David Adom and help shorten the time of arrival for patients in their area of residence, where the value of saving lives is above all. ”
AN “ONLY IN ISRAEL” STORY
One of the great things about Israel is how despite deep political and other differences when tragedy strikes or the “going gets tough” Israelis come together like an extended family and offer help.
As the civil year draws to a close it is timely to remember nine of the best Israeli products which hit the headlines this year. BDS supporters should take note so that they can add these items to their list and avoid taking advantage of them.
RECENT ARCHAEOLOGICAL FINDS
At a time when the Palestinian Authority and its supporters are working hard to prove that Jews never were here, take a look at four recent exciting archaeological finds. Judge for yourselves who is really faking history.
