On the other hand

Air BNB and the UK Quakers have joined the ranks of those who boycott us.

Perhaps they and their supporters could follow through with their blind prejudices and also boycott all the innovations, inventions and discoveries which originate from Israelis who reside in Judea, Samaria, Jerusalem and the Golan. That way they would not be inadvertently taking advantage of life-saving medicine or technologically advanced equipment.

ANOTHER MEDICAL BREAKTHROUGH

Researchers at Tel Aviv University say they have invented the first fully personalized tissue implant, made up of a patient’s own materials and cells, paving the way to engineering a variety of implants from just one small fatty tissue biopsy and making the risk of an immune response to an organ implant “virtually disappear.”

In their study, the researchers took fatty tissue from patients’ stomachs and separated the cells from other, acellular material. The researchers then manipulated the cells to transform them into pluripotent stem cells — cells that can develop into any kind of cells, from neurons to cardiac cells to spinal cord cells.

The researchers have also shown that these patient-specific biomaterials do not induce an immune response in humans. In both animals and human blood, there was no immune response to the personalized materials, “making the risk of an immune response to an organ implant virtually disappears.” Further trials on humans will be the next phase.

TACKLING AVIATION CYBER THREATS

A group of Israeli cybersecurity firms, along with the Economy and Industry Ministry, has set up a new cyber consortium for the aviation industry.

The consortium has been set up to offer comprehensive, end-to-end cybersecurity solutions for the commercial aviation industry: airports, airlines and aircraft.

After a spate of hijackings in the 1960s and early 1970s, Israel developed a bulletproof cockpit door for its airlines, a move that helped halt hijackings on Israeli planes. It was adopted by the US Federal Aviation Administration and other countries only after September 11, 2001.

Because of these doors and other measures, hijacking is something obsolete. The idea is to try to do the same for aviation cyber-security.

TRAINING ENTREPRENEURS FROM KINDERGARTEN AGE

You don’t need straight-As to be successful in life – just ask high-school or college dropouts like Bill Gates (Microsoft) or Sir Richard Branson (Virgin Group). And you don’t need to come from a wealthy family – just ask Oprah Winfrey or Ralph Lauren.

But you do need to learn some business basics, and in Israel, there’s an enrichment program called Entrepreneurship for Kids (EFK), approved by the Ministry of Education, for starting this process as early as kindergarten.

EFK offers a curriculum introducing younger children to entrepreneurial skills in a fun fashion while finding and fostering each child’s personal strengths.

For older grades, EFK offers ready-to-teach modules on different aspects of entrepreneurship leading to group projects conceived and developed by the kids for presentation at a year-end fair.

Under the guidance of teachers, pupils in participating schools go through the same process that adults do in business accelerators: identifying needs and opportunities, defining a target audience, writing a business and marketing plan, and creating and pitching a proof of concept.

ANOTHER APARTHEID MYTH SHATTERED

Before the NZ Government again votes against Israel in the next round of UN-sponsored resolutions perhaps they should view this and acquaint themselves with the real facts rather than ignorant illusions:

  1. Paul Winter says:

There is no point in listing Israeli contributions to humanity. Hypocrites are comfortable with cognitive dissonances, even if they have the brains to recognise them.

The problem, as I see it, is that Jews everywhere, especially the leadership still delusional about a two-state solution, fail to condemn in the hypocrisy just as they fail to point out the falsehoods underpinning the claims of those Arabs who claim to be a people, their entitlement to lands they invaded and lost due to further aggression, their right of “return” and their right to compensation.
