On Friday Jerusalem hosted the 14th International Marathon, with competitors participating from overseas as well as from Israel.

There were six categories: full marathon – 42.2km; half marathon – 21.1km; 10km; 5km; family – 1.7km; community – 800m.

The marathon routes pass through fascinating historical sites that shed light on 3,000 years of Jewish history in Jerusalem – the eternal capital of Israel.

In addition to those running or walking and raising money for various charitable causes, thousands of supporters lined the route to cheer on the participants.
