In most of the world Xmas is preceded by a shopping frenzy. In Israel, this occurs especially prior to Passover.

The immediate period prior to this Festival sees trolleys being laden with food of all descriptions and anxious shoppers stocking up on an amazing array of food. We always joke that it looks like shoppers are laying in for a siege.

In actual fact, there are no shortages, and it’s more a matter of Jewish gastronomical anxiety to ensure that all who are hungry will be able to eat to their heart’s content.
