You know that it is that time of the year when sufganiyot (donuts) appear in the shops and chanukiyot (menorot) are erected on streets.

Chanukah messages appear on electronic transport sites and festival music blasts from shops and loudspeakers. Supermarkets are full of frantic shoppers loading up their trolleys in anticipation of large family celebrations during the next eight days.

There is a general determination to make the most of these days despite a continuing uncertainty over our hostages and ongoing conflict.

Public lighting events will take place in every part of Israel.
