We are now in the Hebrew month of Elul.
This means that Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur and Succot are fast approaching. Already the sounds of the shofar can be heard up and down the country as morning prayers are concluded.
Two significant anniversaries are also looming.
They are the 1973 Yom Kippur War and last year’s Simchat Torah pogrom and hostage massacres. We are still in the midst of dealing with this latter event which has yet to reach a satisfactory conclusion resulting in the release of all those kidnapped and the complete elimination of terror groups and their enablers.
