While the rest of the world was busy as usual obsessing negatively over Israel we were occupied with welcoming new immigrants and innovating…writes Michael Kuttner.

WELCOME HOME

This week saw the arrival of 232 new Olim from the USA including 127 children under the age of 17 years.

In addition three planeloads carrying 293 immigrants from the Ukraine arrived to start a new life in Israel.

NO WAITING IN LINE

Pregnant women won’t have to wait in line anymore in places where public service is provided, according to a law passed by the Knesset. “Public service” is defined in the legislation as a service given by a person to the public, or to a part of it, by a public authority. According to the law, service providers will be entitled to demand that a medical document be presented for proof of pregnancy.

The introduction to the bill states: “Pregnant women are sometimes forced to wait for a long time in long and exhausting lines at supermarkets, shops, pharmacies, the post office and other places which provide public service. In order to give pregnant women the respect they deserve and to make life easier for them, it is proposed to amend the Women’s Equal Rights Act – and to determine that in a situation in which a pregnant woman will ask, [she] will be granted the right to receive public service without waiting in line.”

Most probably ignored by most media was the fact that this legislation was proposed by an Arab Member of Knesset and passed unanimously. So much for “apartheid” and other such slanders.

CLEANER AIR

Israel has significantly reduced its industrial air pollution over the past 10 years, slashing it by about half compared to pollution levels prior to the Clean Air Law’s enactment.

Israeli companies have invested NIS 38 billion ($10.45 billion) in using the best technology available to reduce air pollution, according to Israel’s Ministry of Environment.

Israel’s Clean Air Law was passed in July 2008 and came into effect in January 2011. On the 10th anniversary of its passage, it is clear that the law’s contribution to the Israel’s quality of life and economy far outweighs the economic investment required to implement the law, the Ministry of Environmental Protection stated.

ANCIENT NAME FOR A MODERN DRUG

It’s not just our Shekel which has a direct link to Jewish history.

A pharmaceutical company has received approval from the US Food and Drug Administration to market their new drug under a name derived from the Torah. It is claimed that this is the first time the FDA has approved a name for a drug based on “its biblical context” and not on its active ingredients.

The drug, Tookad, treats prostate cancer as part of a laser-based treatment meant to be minimally invasive. It has received various forms of approval in Israel, Mexico and over 30 European countries. Its name comes from Leviticus 6:6, which says: “A perpetual fire shall be kept burning (tookad) on the altar, not to go out.”

Tookad in the Torah is “the eternal fire that comes in the [Holy] Temple to burn the sacrifice,” which was related to the original concept of the drug, “a drug that would bring some sort of energy to destroy the [cancerous] tumor.”

THE JEWISH CONNECTION TO JERUSALEM

According to Islamic revisionists and other deniers, Jews have no connection to Jerusalem and the Temples were fakes.

Here is a short video which refutes these lies and demonstrates once again how today’s discoveries are validating our indisputable ties to the Holy City.
