The grass is not always greener on the other side of the world.
Israel together with all other countries is facing an upsurge in the cost of living because of rising commodity prices and fuel increases.
Concurrently, layoffs in the high tech sector worldwide are also impacting employment in Israel. Combined with lower salaries these challenges are making many think that perhaps life is better in other countries.
As some Israelis have already found out to their cost, there are other factors which militate against any perceived financial “gardens of Eden.” These include Judeophobia, crime, assimilation and lack of access to first class affordable health services.
As the old aliyah poster of past years proclaimed “we didn’t promise you a rose garden.” What we did get however was a country where children can play safely outside and where we can openly and proudly live as committed Jews.
ISRAELI ROBOT WORKS IN AN ISRAELI HOSPITAL
Gary the robot developed by Israel’s Unlimited Robotics – is now working at Beilinson Hospital, in Petach Tikva, guiding visitors around the hospital and helping with inventory management. See him in action.
