During the Hebrew month of Elul the sounds of the shofar can be heard every morning loud and clear, issuing forth from minyanim up and down the country.

Where else but in Israel can one see New Year greetings displayed on public transport and receive Rosh Hashanah brachot from shop assistants and service providers?

We know that the Festivals are not far away when tradespeople advise that the jobs they promised to do will be either started or finished “after the Chagim.”

NEW HIGHWAY TO THE CAPITAL

 The new entrance to Jerusalem has opened and enables motorists to avoid most of the traffic hold ups because this road takes you under Mount Herzl in a series of tunnels and bridges. It joins up with the Begin motorway to the south and provides access to the city centre and Shaare Zedek Medical Centre.
