On the other hand
There is a worldwide surge in consumer prices and this has also impacted Israeli households.
As is often the case challenges are met with a surge of positive news in the social, economic, scientific, health and innovative areas of the country’s activities.
Some of this week’s examples:
- The Israeli Innovation Authority and the Defense Ministry will spend approximately NIS 200 million ($62 million) to develop Israel’s first quantum computer and lay the foundation for Israeli computational ability, which they said would lead to future developments in economics, technology, security, engineering, and science.
- Israel’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) grew by 8.1% in 2021, after shrinking by 2.2% in 2020, due to the Covid pandemic, the Central Bureau of Statistics reported today. The growth figure for 2021 beat the Bank of Israel forecast of 7.5%.
- Israeli Druze runner Karawan Halabi set an Israeli track and field record on Tuesday in the 1,000-meter race, finishing with a time of 2:43.99 minutes.
- Tel Aviv ranks second globally as a cleantech ecosystem, a close second after Silicon Valley and ahead of key global hubs including Stockholm, London and Los Angeles.

FROM HOLLYWOOD WITH LOVE
At least one Hollywood star knows his history.
Making a stark change from those actors whose knowledge about the connection of the Jewish People with the Land of Israel is zilch, award-winning John Voight on a tour of the Shomron (Samaria) is overwhelmed with emotion.
Presented with a bottle of wine produced in this ancient part of Israel he immediately acknowledges that this is a Biblical prophecy come true in our time.
