1 September was supposed to be the start of the new Israeli school year.
In what seems to be an annual ritual however, the teachers’ union decided to call a strike in order to pressure the Government over pay and conditions demands.
Needless to say those pupils affected, mainly high school students, celebrated at the prospect of enjoying an extended summer vacation.
