Former Prime Minister Ehud Olmert incurred harsh criticism from Israeli officials and politicians after he met with Palestinian Authority (PA) head Mahmoud Abbas just hours after he assailed the US’ Deal of the Century peace plan at the United Nations.

Olmert stated during a joint press conference with Abbas on Tuesday in New York that Abbas was Israel’s only real partner for peace while Abbas said that he wished to resume the peace negotiations with Israel from the point he left off with Olmert, before he was forced to leave office and was sent to prison for corruption and fraud.

According to Olmert’s own admission, he had offered Abbas control over the vast majority of Judea and Samaria and parts of Jerusalem, including the Kotel area, but Abbas did not respond to his proposal.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ridiculed the press conference as “a low point in Israel’s history.”

“After all I’ve worked with President Trump on the Deal of the Century and the recognition of our territory, a former prime minister goes to Abu Mazen to fight this plan. Perhaps it makes sense after Olmert offered him the Western Wall in the past,” he said.

Israel’s Ambassador to the United Nations (UN) said Olmert’s support for Abbas was “shameful.”

“On the same day that Abu Mazen failed in his attempt to condemn the US and Israel in the Security Council here at the UN, Mr. Olmert is endorsing Abu Mazen. He is endorsing diplomatic terrorism against Israel,” he charged.

The right-wing Yemina party stated that “the convicted felon Olmert, [Benny] Gantz’s adviser, who has already agreed to give up the Western Wall, is preparing the ground for future negotiations by Gantz to establish a Palestinian state of terror.”

Minister of Tourism Yariv Levin said “it is frightening to think that Ehud Olmert was our prime minister. It is scary to know what he gave to Abu Mazen – the Old City, citizenship to the masses of Palestinians to enter Israel, and what else?”

“Ehud Olmert has long ago lost all self-respect and reasonable judgment. And yes, he supports Gantz. It’s scary to think we will wake up the next day after the elections with a new addition of Olmert – Benny Gantz,” he said.

Olmert has reportedly been serving as an advisor to Blue and White leader Benny Gantz.

No way would Olmert have given up the Western Wall for all his faults negativity and demoralising behaviour .
Barak a great Israeli war hero and brilliant Defense minister was with Clinton a very proIsraeli President of the USA willing for the “sake of peace” (not morality or even justice ) give the Palestinians a huge land for peace concession in 2000 .
Unbelievably the Fatah leadership rejected this deal because their people’s minds had been so poisoned by anti Jewish hate for generations but worse started the horrific mass murder bombing of Jewish People families killed by butchers as in the horrific Passover Massacre in 2002 .
