Olmert sentenced to six years

Former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert has been sentenced to six years in prison.

He had been found guilty of two bribery charges which the court determined he had accepted 500,000 shekels [A$155,000] relating to a real estate deal during the period in which he served as Mayor of Jerusalem.

He has also been fined 1 million shekels [A$310,000].

Media reports say that Olmert will appeal  to the Supreme Court.
