OBK feeds the CEO sleepout
Over 350 CEOs who participated in this year’s sleep-out in Sydney organised by the St Vincent de Paul Society were fed by Our Big Kitchen.
The kitchen based in the basement of the Sydney Yeshiva in Bondi sent a team of twenty to the event held at the Carriageworks in the inner-city suburb of Eveleigh. More than 70 volunteers who helped at the event took the catering number for OBK over the 500 mark.
The CEO of OBK Rabbi Dr Dovid Slavin told J-Wire: “We were asked by Vinnies to provide the food. The CEOs, many from enormous companies, spent the night sleeping on cardboard and experiencing the plight of the homeless. We offered them the sort of food the homeless could expect to receive…a choice of pumpkin or vegetable soups, a roll and a biscuit.”
Rabbi Slavin added that many participating Jewish CEOs were proudly surprised that an event organised by a Catholic organisation was catered for by a Jewish one.
More than 1500 CEOs in total experienced the sleepout across Australia.
