New Zealand Christian, Muslim and Jewish faith leaders have spoken out to unreservedly condemn the film and the violence that has led to tragic deaths around the world.

David Zwartz

The joint statement was issued by Archbishop John Dew (Catholic), Archbishops David Moxon and Brown Turei (Anglican), Bishops Justin Duckworth and Richard Randerson (Anglican), Federation of Islamic Associations President Anwar Ghani and Wellington Regional Jewish Council Chairperson David Zwartz, supported by Race Relations Commissioner Joris de Bres.

They said that “The film, ‘The Innocence of Muslims’, was dishonestly made and presented, and designed to mislead, provoke hate, and cause harm. We unequivocally condemn the making and promotion of this irresponsible and inflammatory film and the resulting violence, which has seen the loss of innocent lives”.

“We call on all faith communities in New Zealand to remain calm and to strive to foster mutual understanding, counter hate, and promote dialogue, within and between our communities”.

As my previous comment, maybe it’s time for Paramatta Bishop Anthony Fisher to take a stand. With over 33 thousand Catholics in his Diocese alone, it would certainly be making a statement.

What bunch of hypocrites when will these do gooders ever get together and issue joint statements about the hate speeches that go on in the Muslim community including the conga line of Jew hating clerics that the Muslim community invite to Australia and spew their antisemitism [in Arabic] of course in the Mosques.
When will these same Christian, Muslim and Jewish representitives issue similar public condemnations against the ongoing Muslim/ Arab/ Palestinian racist BDS demonstrations and intimidation.
What a lot of Hollow Air !

      Spot on, Michael !!

I reckon that David Zwartz, who looks like a nice bloke, should also join his opressed and offended muslim mates in their “regular” demos as proof of his neat , genuine commitment to his inter-faith generosity. I’d love to join him but I’ll be busy, going to the movies…………..
