It is my pleasure to greet Jewish communities across New South Wales as you celebrate Rosh Hashanah and the beginning of a new year.

The NSW Government is proud of the many contributions made by the diverse Jewish Australian community over its long settlement in our state.

This was brought home to me earlier this year when I visited Israel and stood at the Wailing Wall. I paid tribute at Yad Vashem during a truly remarkable journey, one that gave me an incredible insight into Jewish history.

As the first serving NSW Premier to visit Israel, I was warmly received by President Reuven Rivlin. The visit was successful and resulted in formal partnerships being established between our businesses, universities and researchers.

Rosh Hashanah is a special holiday marked by reflection, acts of charity and by sharing traditional meals, and presents the perfect occasion to celebrate the friendship between NSW and Israel.

I wish everyone good health, happiness, peace and prosperity, all through the year. L’shanah Tovah!
