NSW Parliament hears “Netanyahu is an enemy of peace’
In a private member’s statement in the NSW Parliament Treasurer Dominic Perr0ttet criticised members if Labor and The Greens parties who attended a rally protesting the visit to Sydney of Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
NSW Greens MP David Shoebridge and NSW Labor MP Julia Finn spoke at the rally, which was also attended by Greens Senator Lee Rhiannon and NSW Labor MP Shoaquett Moselmane.
Following Dominic Perrottet’s statement, Julia Finn [Labor Granville] told the parliament that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is “an enemy of peace”.
Leader of the Opposition Labor MP Luke Foley said: “Robust political debate on the current Israeli Government’s policies occurs within Israel’s borders and beyond, and that is proper. However antisemitic words and images are always totally unacceptable.”
Israel really does need new liberal and moderate leadership.
Fine words Luke, but you cannot run with the hares and allow the dogs to bay for blood.
And what a pathetic comment from the NSWJBD CEO. The rally was antisemitic and should have been described as such. And any politician who attends such a rally and fails to speak out against the bigoted haters attending there condones their sentiments.
Its way past time to take the gloves off and to condemn that segment of our society which peddles hate and lies. That segment will never accept the Australian ethos of a fair go. Dignified speech only earns the contempt of those haters.
Marta
For heavens sake Marta, we don’t want them, we have enough problems with Corbin and his left wing cronies. In any case we’re rather full here in the UK – you have plenty of room.
Paul (Benson)
They are depriving Western democracies of a tenable opposition. They are truly killing the very foundations of Parliamentary democracy. They should all go to England and join their counterparts there, and commit suicide together.
They very discreetly abstained from displaying posters of Haj Amin al-Husseini.
