In a new initiative, the NSW Government has established committees to advise it of the “needs, interests and concerns of Jewish Australians in NSW”.
At the launch on Friday in Parliament House Victor Dominello, the Minister for Citizenship and Communities, and also the Minister for Aboriginal Affairs, announced the names of the Government identities who would join with members of many of the cultures with a presence in NSW.
The Jewish community was represented by the NSW Jewish Board of Deputies’ president Yair Miller, CEO Vic Alhadeff, vice president Yaron Finkelstein and the The Great Synagogue’s Rabbi Jeremy Lawrence.
The two State M.P.s representing the Government on the the committee are Jonathan O’Dea and Gabrielle Upton.
Victor Dominello wrote to members of the new committee saying: “The Government aims for a relationship with the local Jewish Australian community that is based on substance. The Jewish MCC is a critical component of having a serious and meaningful relationship with our local Jewish community.”
