John Ajaka sends New Year greetings to the Australian Jewish community.

I wish to send a warm message of greetings to the Australian-Jewish community as you celebrate Rosh Hashanah this year.

The New Year celebrates the creation of Adam and Eve, and remembers the willingness of Abraham to sacrifice his son.

This holy festival is a reminder to live our life to a higher standard – to rise above human nature and be people of love, compassion, mercy, justice and hope. It is a reminder to recommit to seeking peace through mutual respect.

New South Wales is home to a multitude of faiths, customs, cultures and races, and the NSW Government is a firm advocate for the promotion of this rich diversity and its benefits to our society.

I wish everyone celebrating Rosh Hashanah a peaceful and blessed year ahead!

THE HON JOHN AJAKA MLC Minister for Multiculturalism [NSW]
