Nomi Kaltmann to contest Caulfield
Lawyer and journalist Nomi Kaltmann is to contest the Victorian state seat of Caulfield currently held by Liberal David Southwick.
Mount Scopus-educated Deputy Leader Southwick has held the seat since 2010.
Kaltmann is 30 and a mother of three who used to work for Attorney General Mark Dreyfus.
She was approached by the group Voices of Caulfield and has accepted to stand under their banner for the upcoming Victorian election on November 22.
Nomi Kaltmann commented: “I think that Caulfield is ready for change.”
She told J-Wire: “I am excited to run as the independent candidate for Caulfield! As a lifetime resident of the Caulfield electorate, it is a great honour to run in the upcoming election and represent the interests of my local community. ”
Kaltmann will approach Climate 200 for funding.
I think that the ALP will win the state election in November again and may repeat the disaster that the Liberals suffered at a Commonwealth level. Mathew Guy, while probably a nice bloke, is a political light weight and no Jeff Kennett. Also I think that anyone who has worked for a senior MP like Mark Dreyfus from a major political party cant suddenly become an independent either.
Teal outside, Labor inside?
Yes!
Sorry Mikey Bear but I can’t share your enthusiasm. I would like to hear her policies on counteracting the energy crisis, on the healthcare and ambulance disaster, on state revenue and taxation etc. But I doubt any of this will be forthcoming as those of her ilk are completely ill equipped and ignorant in these areas as they are totally consumed with LGBT, radical feminism, climate change and other such idiocy which bear no relation to the concerns of families and to the citizens of this state. The ‘teals’ who campaigned portraying themselves as independents have shown their true colours in Federal government where they are a total waste of space. The same will be true of Ms Kaltmann should she succeed in November.
I’m sure the voters of Caulfield will comprehensively decide how effective the incumbent MP has been and respond accordingly. Going by the Federal election results I’m going to buy popcorn now.
