No more Jewish jokes – Adelaide Archbishop
Archbishop Philip Wilson has told Adelaide Catholics not to tell Jewish jokes.
In a letter to the city’s priests, the Archbishop write that Catholics “must be respectful and sensitive towards Jewish people.”
Archbishop Wilson, who is also President of the Australian Catholics Bishops Conference, told his priests that “we have to be especially careful about the way we talk about the Jewish people because of the way that they’ve been persecuted and treated for over a thousand years and especially during the Holocaust.”
