New Zealand artist Lilach Cohen exhibits new works
A new exhibition at the Helensville Art Centre this week will showcase will showcase two and three-dimensional works, by Israeli artist Lilach Cohen culminating in an installation inspired by her relationship with the sea.This is Cohen’s second exhibition in the Helensville gallery situated 40kms north of Auckland, and her new works persevere with her affinity to the universe.

Cohen takes viewers through her memories and love of the beach and bush – all underpinning her Jewish faith and identity.
The artist was born in Israel in 1971. At a very young age she discovered her creativity, drawing regularly and enjoying childhood play with found objects.
Cohen immigrated to New Zealand with her family in 2003 and studied at Whitecliffe School of Art in Auckland. In her early days as a student she was already focussing on nature, – captivated by New Zealand’s natural environment. Her mix-media works incorporate sand, clay and spices along with paint, and Cohen loves the stimulus of all the senses, not just the visual.
These new works continue in her use of extraneous materials. Her works are perfumed with spices and layered with embedded and found elements. A prayer to G-d ‘may it never end’ on DVD accompanies the exhibition.
Pauline Denton, artist and coordinator of the Helensville Art Centre, will open the exhibition. The opening function will be held on Saturday February 6, at 4pm – 6pm.
Cohen’s exhibition runs for one month and visitors in the basement of the Helensville War Memorial Hall, 49 Commercial Road.

When viewing Cohen’s beautiful art it takes me for couple of minutes as if I standing and looking at an endless shore…
She manage, in a glance of an eye, to pass the to the viewer her back home feelings.
I will not going to miss 🙂
