New Sefer Torahs for the Harry Triguboff Centre
It is a short walk from the Central Synagogue in Bondi to the Harry Triguboff Centre but a feeling of pageantry as two freshly completed Sefer Torahs were paraded down Bon Accord St to their new home in Flood St in the shul built by Harry.
State MPs Dr Marjorie O’Neill, Ron Hoenig Senator Andrew Bragg and Waverley Mayor John Wakefield joined in the celebration as a marching band headed the parade.
Harry Triguboff donated the Torahs in memory of his parents and in honour of his grandchildren.
The final letters were written into the two Sefer Torahs at the Central. When the work was completed, CEO of the Harry Triguboff Centre Rabbi Dr Dovid Slavin blew a shofar before the two scrolls started the short journey to their new home.
Rabbi Slavin told J-Wire: “In the spirit of Harry’s dedication to Jewish learning, the new Sefer Torahs will have a long life ahead of them bringing continuing study for generations to come.”
Sorry, Mr Rabinowitz built the yeshiva. He was a philanthropist who poured money into all Jewish intuitions here in Sydney like the moriah college
