New role at Maroubra Synagogue for growing community
The Board of Maroubra Synagogue is seeking to expand its offering to the community with the announcement it is looking to engage a part-time Community Growth & Education Officer/Associate Rabbi.
“Our community has enjoyed sustained growth over the past few years and we are seeking to engage a passionate and pro-active adult educator to enhance our offering. The role will be focused on developing, implementing and delivering ongoing inspirational and engaging educational ideas and programs. Our objective is to increase engagement and enable our membership to progress in their yiddishkeit and through this, strengthen their communal Jewish connection. The creation of this additional role will allow for new initiatives to further enhance Maroubra’s appeal as a community of choice,” said Maroubra Synagogue President, Evan Koseff.
“The Shule already has a large and active community of nearly 700 members. This places many demands on our Rabbi (Rabbi Yossi Friedman who is also involved with Mount Sinai College and serves as a chaplain to the RAAF). Having an additional religious resource who can focus on the educational space will allow us to offer the learning and Jewish growth opportunities that we would like to see offered.”
The Board has agreed to pilot the initiative in the first year and based on its success, will assess the way forward. The role will be part-time.
