New Maccabi club off and running
Sydney weather improved from torrential rain to stunning sunshine marking the inaugural NSW Mac Running Club event on Sunday.
42 competitors took to the 5km track around the beautiful Centennial Park ponds with birdsong following the runners and walkers of all abilities.
Byron Goldberg (27) won the event in a time of 19min 27sec with the first female home being Vanessa Leibman in a time of 23min 56 sec.
Mac Running plans to hold the event regularly and each event will trace the same course so that entrants can track their own improvement each time they enter.
With the youngest entrant in single digits, the oldest mid-60s and an almost even split of males and females the event clearly had appealed to a wide range of the community.
The club would like to thank its sponsors Shoe Life https://shoelife.com.au/ and mpower Pilates https://mpowerpilates.com.au/ and of course the wonderful volunteers who made the day run so smoothly. Amy, Dave and Pam Grevler, Michael Glick, Ari and Nicole Katz, Nicky and Russel Klugman, Lara Levin, David and Mandy Penkin.
