New CEO for the AICC
Charles Nightingale has been appointed CEO of the NSW office of the Australia-Israel Chamber of Commerce.
Nightingale, whose family is very excited that he is involved in “doing something for Israel”, began his corporate career in the UK and has extensive experience in businesses development, strategic planning, sales and marketing as well as import and distribution at senior levels.
A Sydneysider for almost 20 years, he joins the Chamber from Specsavers where he was Head of Corporate Eyewear for Australia and New Zealand.
He told J-Wire that he was already finding his new role very interesting and was not expecting to make any early changes to the way the organisation functions.
“When you move into a new home you don’t knock down walls before you have lived in the house for a while and learned how everything fits”, he said.
While he acknowledges that anti-Israel sentiment had to be dealt with, he pointed out that the AICC is well established as an active national business organisation and enjoys good relationships with corporate NSW.
Nightingale’s relationship with AICC stretches back 17 years when he first became aware of the Chamber’s extensive network. Enjoying a strong networking base, both here and in Israel, he will use his contacts to promote the work of the AICC.
He has visited Israel regularly, although not so much in recent years. The Israel Sustainability Mission planned for early December is one that he would be keen to join if the timing is right.
When asked about the origin on his surname, Nightingale laughed and said that family rumour held it was a translation from the Russian for songbird.
AICC NSW President Kim Jacobs says that Mr Nightingale brings with him a wealth of commercial experience as well as an excellent understanding of Israel and the importance of trade between the two countries.
